The Mexicans have devised an innovative solution (you don’t hear that very often, do you?) to the problem of sexual harassment - giving away inflatable sex dolls:
1Or should that be “famously nacho country”?
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico is deploying an army of inflatable sex dolls dressed as office executives in a head-turning publicity campaign against workplace harassment of women in the famously macho country. 1In other stupid news, a type of squirrel-rat that roamed pre-historic China and Pakistan is not extinct after all. It seems the bushy tailed rodent has been hiding in Laos for the past 11 million years.
1Or should that be “famously nacho country”?
In an unexpected twist, the dolls turned out to be more productive than the executives they replaced.
ReplyDeleteVicente Fox's joke made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI too have experienced unsettling erotic feelings toward household appliances. I mean, have you seen Whirlpool's new line? It's just not fair.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that second item should have been on the front page of every newspaper. Gaps in the fossil record! indeed. Reading to the end of the story you link to, I find this especially side-splitting: " "We're becoming a little bit sophisticated in finding these species," said Sybille Klenzendorf, acting director for species conservation at the World Wildlife Fund. "It's still very difficult to get to a lot of places, and we just don't know enough yet." " Is she for real?
ReplyDeleteI thought that was funny too, Mortimer. I'm actually curious as to why this is news now, when it was known about last year (scroll down to item 10).
ReplyDeleteI've argued in the past that most scientists quoted in the news are actually hoaxers. But Sybille may be an exception, however, why no real photos of the 'rock-rat'? That image labelled 'photo' in the linked article is a painting (isn't it?)?
I was too lazy too comment on how the creature was found: for sale at a meat market. This is actually how a number of animals thought extinct have been rediscovered.
